Some Remarks on Theories with Large Compact Dimensions and TeV–Scale Quantum Gravity

چکیده
We comment on some implications of theories with large compactification radii and TeV-scale quantum gravity. These include the behavior of high-energy gravitational scattering cross sections and consequences for ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays and neutrino scattering, the question of how to generate naturally light neutrino masses, the issue of quark-lepton unification, the equivalence principle, and the cosmological constant.

ρ Parameter Constraints on Models with Large Compact Dimensions
In models with large extra dimensions, where quantum gravity effects can become strong at the TeV scale, the ρ parameter receives rather large contributions from one-loop diagrams involving exchange of spin-2 graviton and spin-0 dilaton states. These are computed and the results compared with current data. Some upper bounds on the string scale MS are obtained.
متن کاملLow - Scale Closed Strings and their Duals ⋆
We study large dimensions and low string scale in four-dimensional compactifications of type II theories of closed strings at weak coupling. We find that the fundamental string scale, together with all compact dimensions, can be at the TeV, while the smallness of the string coupling accounts for the weakness of gravitational interactions. This is in contrast to the situation recently studied in...
متن کاملInfinitely large new dimensions
We construct intersecting brane configurations in anit-de Sitter (AdS) space which localize gravity to the intersection region, generalizing the trapping of gravity to any number n of infinite extra dimensions. Since the 4D Planck scale M(Pl) is determined by the fundamental Planck scale M(*) and the AdS radius L via the familiar relation M(2)(Pl) approximately M(2+n)(*)L(n), we get two kinds o...

Signature of Randall-Sundrum Quantum Gravity model in γγ scattering in the TeV range. Abstract We examine the implications of the Randall-Sundrum gravity models on γγ scattering in the TeV range. It has recently been proposed that the scale of weak interactions M ∼ 1T eV is the only fundamental scale of energy in the description of particle interactions. The conventional scale of gravitational ...
متن کاملSeeking TeV-Scale Quantum Gravity at an eγ collider
Theories with large extra compact dimensions predict exciting phenomenological consequences at the TeV scale. Such theories can, consequently, be tested/verified in experiments at future colliders like the Next Linear Collider (NLC). In this paper, we study the production of the spin-2 Kaluza-Klein excitations in NLC operating in the eγ mode. Results for unpolarised and polarised cases are pres...
